Biscuits

- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.
- Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece of dough into a long rope.
- Shape the ropes into bagels by wrapping them around your fingers and pinching the ends together.
- Place the bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the bagels and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Boil the bagels in a large pot of water for 1 minute per side.
- Remove the bagels from the water and drain on paper towels.
- Bake the bagels for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
