Early Life and Career
Lepore was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1964. She began her career as a drag queen in the early 1990s, and in 1998, she made her Broadway debut in the musical "RENT". In 2000, she starred in the Off-Broadway musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", which earned her a Tony Award nomination.
Coming Out and Transitioning
Lepore came out as transgender in 2007, and began her transition shortly thereafter. She underwent hormone replacement therapy and gender confirmation surgery. In 2014, she legally changed her name to Gabriella.
Advocacy and Activism
